"O Lugar Comum" (1966) ou a juvenília ficcional de Maria Velho da Costa

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present some reflections on Maria Velho da Costa's O Lugar Comum (1966). First published title of the honored author, the collection brings together 5 short stories (or short fictions) and themes that already postulate her critical and creative thinking, consolidated in later texts. From the nomenclature used by Manuela Nogueira (1995) and Guido Battelli (2005) in their analysis of the inaugural and youth works of Mário de Sá-Carneiro and Florbela Espanca, respectively, we intend here to ask if O Lugar Comum (1966) nor could it be read as a possible fictional youth of the author, where her main aesthetic ideas are put on the agenda.
