This article focuses on the topic of utopia and spirituality in Rafael Bluteau's Prosas Portuguesas. It stresses the connection between the author's spirituality and the search for a perfect, ideal language. In fact, these two themes are intertwined throughout his work. Although the Prosas Portuguesas do not constitute a fictional utopia, the author's critical discourse is full of utopian motifs, comprising mountains and pyramids, islands and ziggurats, ternary organizations and circular movements.
